TCS and Atlantic Estuarine Research Society (AERS) hosted the workshop at George Mason University’s brand-new Potomac Science Center in Woodbridge, VA, on Thursday, April 4, 2019, as part of the AERS Spring Meeting. The event was sponsored by the Potomac Environmental Research and Education Center of George Mason University.

The full-day event featured a morning of keynote talks on career options, employment prospects, successful pathways toward local opportunities and opportunities around the nation, as well as inspirational testimonies from coastal professionals. The afternoon offered a series of smaller group discussions about various skills needed to succeed, such as leadership, networking, mentors, publishing, resumes, and more.  Attendees had the opportunity to engage with speakers and potential mentors. Students and young professionals in the coastal and environmental field were encouraged to attend.
