The Coastal Society recognizes people who have made a significant contribution to coastal management and to the Society.
- The Coastal Society recognizes excellence in service to coastal management with its Outstanding Service Award.
- The Distinguished Service Award is given for dedication to the Society.
- The President’s Award is given to someone whose service to The Coastal Society has been exemplary.
- The Robert W. Knecht Award for Professional Promise is given to a rising professional in the field of coastal and ocean management who best emulates the vigor, dedication, vision and generosity of Robert W. Knecht.
- Student Awards are given for the best oral presentation and the best poster at the Society’s biennial conference.
