Membership Benefits

Join forces with your colleagues in an international society that addresses technical, policy, educational, and management issues with a coastal focus. A key part of the mission of The Coastal Society (TCS) is to provide professional education and development to members through communication and education. To accomplish that mission, TCS offers you the following benefits of membership:

Virtual Connection to TCS Members

The Coastal Society brings together hundreds of coastal professionals from across the country. Members can learn from each other and share career stories live during the TCS Professional Spotlight sessions, part of our new Coastal Connections web conferencing series. In the alternating months of this series, members discuss current issues such as diversity in coastal planning and marine plastics in the Trending Topics series.

Email List

Receive bi-monthly notification of coastal management jobs and periodic announcements of upcoming events.

TCS Blog

Put to use the information found in the TCS Blog. Articles are written by TCS members, covering topics on coastal news, policy announcements, and research updates. Membership also includes online access to past issues of the TCS Bulletin.

Coastal Management Journal

Keep abreast of research findings, analysis, tools, and techniques as you create policies and manage our coastal resources — and save money at the same time. TCS Regular, Institutional, Corporate and New Professional membership categories include a subscription to Coastal Management, the international journal of marine environment, resources, law, and society.

Discounts to Margaret A. Davidson Coastal Career Development Program (MAD) Workshops

TCS members receive discounted registration fees for MAD workshops. These workshops highlight career options and opportunities, and develop career building skills from resumes and interviews to networking and mentors.  Learn more about this program here.

Leadership and Volunteering

Leadership opportunities on the Board and committees are available to expand your professional experience in the non-profit arena and foster life-long career relationships!
