As part of the “Margaret A. Davidson Coastal Career Development Program,” The Coastal Society (TCS), is proud to honor Margaret’s legacy with this afternoon through next morning workshop immediately following the Coastal GeoTools conference (http://coastalgeotools.org/registration/) in Myrtle Beach, SC. The workshop is designed to provide valuable skills and information to the next generation of coastal practitioners, students and early- to mid-career coastal professionals. TCS and Coastal Carolina University, in partnership with the Association of State Floodplain Managers, are hosting the workshop at CCU’s Department of Coastal and Marine Systems Science campus in Conway, SC on Thursday afternoon, February 14 through Friday morning, February 15.

The event will feature an afternoon of keynote talks on career options, employment prospects, successful pathways toward local opportunities and opportunities around the nation, as well as inspirational testimonies from coastal and marine science professionals. The next morning will offer a series of smaller group discussions about various skills needed to succeed, such as leadership, networking, mentors, publishing, resumes, interviewing and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with speakers and potential mentors during the sessions and at an early evening mixer and morning breakfast. Students, young, and mid-career professionals in the coastal, marine, environmental fields are encouraged to attend.

For Coastal GeoTools attendees, CCU is providing transportation to and from the Coastal GeoTools Conference Hotel, Embassy Suites at Kingston Plantation, and the CCU campus.
